Yes, this will be another post about saying goodbye to a place that has acted as our home. Even though we’ve been living in Perth since last November, it really feels like not so long ago that we first landed in Western Australia in search of riches. Our only reason for coming to Perth was to find work and to save enough cash to allow us to travel for another year (at least) or so.

Aussie Rules Football

Last week Kendall and I managed to take in an Aussie Rules Football (footy) match. She actually surprised me with tickets!  The game was the home opener for one of the two AFL teams in Western Australia, the West Coast Eagles. The Eagles are one of the most storied franchises in the AFL and are the beloved team here in Perth.  They have the 3rd highest club membership rates out of any AFL team!

The Quest for Polish Beer

Being on the road you tend to miss the little things, small things that you took for granted back at home that didn’t seem so special at the time. Don’t get me wrong, obviously everyone misses their families, friends and even pets, that’s a given, but what I am talking about are the small comforts which home allows. For some people it may be sleeping in their own bed that they miss most, or thehttp://www.free-wheelin.ca/testwp/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif familiar taste of a certain home cooked meal. It may even be something silly like watching your favourite sports team at your favourite pub. For me, it was Polish Beer. My last sip of Polish Beer (Zywiec as I recall) was on January 18, 2011 – so that means I have not had a taste of any Polish beers for over 11 months… yes that’s right 11 months! Sure I had other beers in the meantime, but none of them compared to familiar taste of a nice cold Zywiec or Lech after a summertime soccer match…

Perth Life

Perth Life
